In a very interesting move, Linden Labs are starting a service-wide shutdown of their external user-forums, in order to transition communication and sharing of information in-world, through the use of in-world blogs, forums, and new communication channels being developed. Forums were already set to members-only, however, Linden Labs admitted that significant resources go into the maintenance of external forums and rightfully state that those resources should focus on the Second Life world, rather than external gossip and drama. The closures will occur over the coming months, so forum junkies won’t all be cut-off from their stuff at once.

It’s about time they got to the final phases of this. SL is large enough that having a centralized forum for the community, what with The Grid now, is near pointless and troll haven.

Aw, this was such a top quality write-up. Basically I would like to write like that as well – taking some time and real work to create a great post… nevertheless what could I say… I procrastinate an awful lot and by no means manage to get things completed…

This is obtaining a bit far more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has much more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you rapidly see associated albums, songs, or other users associated to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of individuals will center on that item, and one more set of “neighbors” will arrive into view, allowing you to navigate close to exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also good enjoyable, letting you come across other people with shared tastes and becoming close friends with them. You then can listen to some playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your buddies are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your individual listening habits in case you so pick.
