I love Kevin Mitnick’s business card

Kevin Mitnick's business card

Looking through Flickr photo sets of business cards, trying to find a good high quality print shop for my soon to be announced new company, I stumbled upon Keven Mitnick’s card for Mitnick Security Consulting, LLC. Celebrity hacker, activist and security consultant, Keven Mitnick has been legit for several years now, doing high-paying security talks and naturally, consulting. His business card is perhaps some of the best imagery I’ve seen for marketing one’s business, him being quite a well-known hacker turned security consultant, what screams “I know security” better than a business card that also functions as a pop-out lock-picking set? An absolutely brilliant idea and many props go out to Mitnick and his design team for envisioning and following through on the idea so fashionably.

Photos of the Russian space shuttle Buran

Buran shuttle

While the Soviet Union was still trudging along heavily, there was a successful Soviet space program to build a Soviet fleet of space shuttles, allowing the U.S.S.R to compete with the Americans in space. Naturally, as with all public works when the Soviet government fell, many of the higher-ups in these programs made off with billions of state-money, effectively bankrupting the Russian space program for the foreseeable future. But there were several successful space trips made by the Buran shuttle, which oddly enough, I never heard about In the US back when I was a kid (hmmmmmm). Thankfully, our Eastern blogrades at English Russia have put up a wealth of photos and videos, along with some technical information about Mother Russia’s failed shuttle program.

Gallery of vintage drug advertisements

Vintage drugs!

Another brilliant gallery of vintage marketing from mid-20th century magizines. The theme of this gallery is vintage drug and narcotic advertisements from various mid-20th century magazines, proving that not only has pharmaceutical companies always been totally sleazy with their marketing, but that vintage magazine ads from the 50′s just look fucking awesome.

Collection of celebrity artists and their works

Summer Wind by Frank Sinatra

While musicians, writers and actors are often times referred to as artists in their respective fields, few actually make the jump into the fine arts, photography, paintings and drawings. From Frank Sinatra to Jeff Bridges to Billy Dee Williams to Donna Summer, unexpected artists are all around Hollywood, painting and drawing the visions in their head. Pop Life Art contains a comprehensive listing of celebrity artists, quite possible the most complete listing on the internet, with links to galleries where you can view and/or purchase art from your favorite celebrity.

Gallery of lenticular and other strange cloud formations

Lenticular clouds

Valuca is a collector of all things amazing it seems, building a gallery site full of the most beautiful photos I’ve recently seen featuring lenticular clouds, wave clouds and other un-identified strange weather and cloud formations. The lenticular cloud is often confused as UFOs, due to their circular pattern, and usually form along mountain ranges. One amazing thing is that these cloud formations do not generally move, no matter how strong the wind may be.

Blacklight tattoo gallery, whoa!

Blacklight tattoos!

Whoa. Blacklight reactive ink seems to be gaining steam in the tattoo world, with more and more people getting light-reactive tattoos, visible only when blacklight is passed over them. The ink is FDA approved, likely being the safest ink on the market today, containing no phosphors, additives or EverGlow. Some of the tats in the gallery are pretty plain in my opinion, but the skeletal structure is a pretty great use of this ‘technology’ (go along with me here) and is most definitely Bunch of Nerds approved.
