The making of Blade Runner, for the sci-fi nerds
April 9th - One Response

Blade Runner

Blade Runner is one of the most influential films of all time, especially to sci-fi nerds such as myself. Philip K. Dick was a mad genius was both misunderstood and under-valued during his lifetime of writing, a mistake which now appears to be openly recognized, as Hollywood were scrambling for awhile to dump a load of money into glossy, overly-plastic and poorly executed films based on Dick properties. Most failing miserably at trying to achieve the greatness of Blade Runner. This amazing documentary contains interviews with everyone from Philip K. Dick to Daryl Hannah, discussing their experiences as writers and actors in getting Dick’s “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” into theaters as “Blade Runner”.

Grab some popcorn, sit back and enjoy after the jump..

    Good stuff.

Has anyone heard of a forthcoming ‘making of’ called “Immersion 2019″?

I was doing an online survey that proposed 2 alternative Blade Runner special packages (after a series of questions to determine whether I’d heard of BR, how much I liked it, and whether I was a fan of: thrillers; sci fi movies; the movie BR; Ridley Scott; Harrison Ford- yes, a lot, no, yes, yes, yes, kinda)

One was a 4 DVD set with all versions of the movie ( Original US release with cheesy voiceover, original overseas version, ‘director’s cut’, ‘definitive cut”) plus 2 disks of ‘extras’ and ‘memorabilia’. It was priced at AU$45.

The other Package was a 2 DVD set with the ‘definitive cut” and an ‘exclusive new unreleased feature-length’ in-depth making-of called “Immersion 2019″. This was priced at AU$20.

I was asked which I would buy (both), and then which I would buy if I could only have one. (hard choice, had to think what to get via bit torrent, decided “Immersion 2019″ would be simplest to find separately )

Google doesn’t seem to have any results for “Immersion 2019″ so I wonder if it’s an as-yet unreleased making-of, a new name for an already existing making-of, or maybe even a version of this one, perhaps with an american presenter.

Anyone know anything about this “Immersion 2019″???
