Speed Racer’s car looks nice, Jack as Racer X, hmmm

At a press conference a few weeks ago in Germany (where Susan Sarandon and Matthew Fox recently were spotted enjoying a Modest Mouse concert), the crew of the live-action film adaptation to Speed Racer gave some insight into the wonderful world being created in the film, as well as the physical Mach 5, which will be used throughout the film. The car looks excellent, though I’d prefer a bit less pimp on the wheels. Some of the acting choices, hmmm, I have to think about some of those. I like the thought of Matthew Fox (Jack from Lost!) as Racer X, but, Ricci as Trixie? I guess it’s worth a shot. The film is currently being shot in Berlin and is set for a May 2008 release.

i hope they do a good job. now transformers is out (or soon to be out) i wish they made a live action movie Mazinger Z. Actually i have a big list of cartoons that i would pay to see on the big screen:
Thundercats (with Hugh Jackman as Liono - sorry, i know he’s Wolverine already, but i cant think of anyone else, Bruce Willis as Panthro, Jennifer Biel as Cheetarah (oh my god!), and Mumm-Ra as half CGI half actor)
Mazinger Z
Robotech
a really well made version of He-Man
