Boston Dynamics, the DARPA backed research agency, specializing in developing combat-ready robotics and simulations machines, have released a new video of their “war mule” robot, named Big Dog. Resembling our favorite four-legged friend, Big Dog is run by a gasoline-powered engine (hence the noise), trots at 3.3 mph and can carry a load of up to 120lbs, if not more. Scary, spooky and fascinating all at one time.
Be prepared to lose some sleep tonight. Princeton University have their impressive collection of death masks online, documented in a series of creepy photos, displaying death masks throughout history. Some amazing examples are on display, for instance, this one to the right, Abraham Lincoln, 16th president of the United States of America, and others like Sir Isaac Newton, Napoleon III and James Dean.

Cute alert!! As with any proud nerd father, there comes a time when they must introduce their child to the wonders of Star Wars. Only this time, the father filmed parts of his daughters monologue explaining one of the most famous sci-fi films of all time. Quickly becoming a YouTube hit, the little one is now receiving movie and television offers, which rightly are being turned down.
The proud father had to say:
Here is my daughter, age 3, explaining the plot of Star Wars Episode IV.
She explained the whole movie to me in much greater detail but unfortunately I didn’t have the camera going. When I finally caught her talking about the movie again she delivered this truncated, but still funny, version.
A little more about the video: She wasn’t coached to say anything, nor was she forced to make the video. She rarely stops talking. Those of you with children understand this: sometimes it’s harder to turn the faucet off than to turn the faucet on.
The video was edited to make it shorter, more cohesive and hopefully funnier. I did move some of the lines around so it would make more sense.
Created as a Master of Science thesis by a Computer Science student in UmeƄ University, Phun is an amazing little educational game giving players a rich physics playground where they can easily build and tear apart environments, creating havoc upon squiggly line blocks, water, bits and so much more. Great for teaching a young class about the concepts of physics or just a fun little toy to waste your time at work.
Warning, if theorist Jason Hunter is correct, there be major Lost spoilers ahead. For the past few years, millions of television viewers around the world have been racking their brains as to what the island is, will Kate end up with Jack or Sawyer or will Hurley ever really be happy. The predominant question of course being what the heck is going on with that weird island? Hunter’s Lost: A Theory in Time Travel aims to spell it all out. With an assured tone, he points out intricate and mind-bending plot points and easter eggs sprinkled throughout Lost, pointing to what he believes to be the ‘big reveal’ coming in a few years from the producer and writers of Lost. If you dare, get lost in this theory and then go impress your friends with all of your newfound knowledge.
