Can you survive The Outbreak?

  September 28th, 2008 by Nerds

As interactive media becomes more and more innovative, we start to see some pretty impressive projects appearing, such as The Outbreak, a choose-your-own-adventure zombie movie / game / work of art. An impressive interactive journey, The Outbreak takes the viewer into the middle of mysterious outbreak, turning normal humans into blood-craving zombies, scouring the dark and foggy streets for fresh meat. Through interactive cut-points, you become the directory, making life and death decisions for the characters, guiding the story in the way you’d like to it play out.

Highly impressive effort, from what appears to be an amateur team of passionate artists, actors, writers and directors.

What would Don Draper do?

  September 23rd, 2008 by Nerds

With 6 Emmys under their belt, AMC’s Mad Men is rolling along nicely, picking up new viewers and becoming one of the most buzzed television shows on basic cable. Unfortunately, online is a bit different, as AMC has actively gone after Mad Men-related Twitter accounts, citing the DMCA in order to force Twitter to ban accounts. Boo.

Hopefully the same fate doesn’t befall one of my new favorite projects, What Would Don Draper Do? Wondering what to do after college, how to meet women or what type of scotch one should drink during the day? Simply send a mail to the virtual Don Draper, America’s new favorite Madison Ave ad-man and wait for the words of wisdom to flow.

97. Dear Don Draper, Where do I go to meet a woman like Betty?
You can’t just go somewhere to meet women like Betts. You prepare yourself every day: work hard, keep clean and stay in good shape. She’ll come along. If you happen to see her first, you’ll be ready to make your move. And a move, in women like Betty’s case, is a kind word or gesture and always honest. Betty knows what she wants. Sincerity is only the start. Hope to God you fit the rest or she feels like a gamble.

Men Who Look Like Kenny Rogers

  September 21st, 2008 by Nerds

I’ve noticed it, have you? Older men, possibly country music fans, aging in a way that they resemble everyone’s favorite gambler, Kenny Rogers. A bit spooky, ok more than a bit spooky, but it gets even weirder when browsing through Men Who Look Like Kenny Rogers, a brilliant collection of Rogers-ites created by the visual design magicians Contusion Media (think Tony Hawk, Slim Jim, etc).

  September 18th, 2008 by Nerds

A little bit of WTF comes to mind but I can’t describe how much I love the thought of Sir Ben Kingsley, Oscar award winner and thespian, even knowing something like Minor Threat even exists!

Create your own Marvel superhero

  September 17th, 2008 by Nerds

Marvel, the comics publishing house behind almost every comic character and storyline that ever mattered, has finally made it much easier for you to create your own comic book hero, modeled after the hundreds of characters in the rich Marvel universe.

Our character? Supernerd who carries an iPhone and a Blackberry, wears glasses to conceal his true identity while at work, and a lights the way with his trusty torch, apparently.
