Italian furniture designer Lago has come through with one of the most exciting additions to my wishlist in awhile. Dubbed the “Fluttula”, this ‘floating bed’ is propped up by one central leg (which can be adjusted for height) and mounted to the wall, giving the illusion that your bed is floating in air and you’re sleeping on a cloud. Naturally such an illusion isn’t cheap, with the retail price for the Fluttula floating around the $1500 USD mark.

3D printing technology is one of my most anticipated technological advancements. Sure it’s been around for awhile, but, it’s just not there quite yet, not until we can walk into Staples and easily walk out with our very own personal 3D printing device. The engineers behind the Desktop Factory are working hard on making this a reality, with their personal 3D printer, currently being tested for use in the engineering and design fields. The printer can take your 3D mock up and mold a durable, functional model from the bottom up, one layer at a time in sturdy composite plastic. The composite plastic material can easily be sanded down and painted making it of special use to industrial designers who rely on turnaround time. The Desktop 3D printer measures just 25x20x20 inches and weighs less than 90lbs, meaning it won’t take up too much space in your factory or design studio.

Not for sale yet, the 3D printer is currently undergoing a pre-sale, with a target price of $5,000 to $7,000 dollars US. As Desktop Factory says, imagine when your child can design their own small toy model or order a design off the internet, then simply ‘print’ it out and paint it. I can’t wait for the future.

I’m surprised at the amount of people who just hate when their different foods are touching on their dinner plate. Me, I just toss everything on top of each other, let the flavors mix and so on. BUT, you always have that 1 friend who’s invited for dinner. Well, now you can please them and look damn stylish while doing so. The Dish Up series from designer Chaiyut Plypetch is a beautifully etched series of dishes, which are stylishly cut to separate your servings as well as fit nicely together in a unified form. You can even stack them vertically in your cupboard, clearing you some space to fit more Dish Up pieces into your collection!!

Home exterior lighting is often a sadly ignored part of home ownership. Usually home owners just flood their front yards and walkways with inefficient and downright horrid light, annoying neighbors and visitors alike. Though I don’t really expect discount catalog stores like Herrington to solve these problems, this time they’re offering a great little accessory for any walkway or path on your property. Requiring only solar power with no wires or accessories needed, Sun Bricks add a charming level of lighting and safety to any dark paths. Integrated solar panels provide up to 8 hours of light per night, powering Amber colored LEDs putting off a warm glow to guide visitors and owners alike.

Want a flash-based MP3 player that not only let’s you jam your christian rock, but also show the world what religion you identify with? Then the Saint B MP3 player will be perfect for you. Only a prototype for now, this is most certainly a product I see being mass produced and selling quite well. A flash-memory based MP3 player in a chrome-plated steel frame, shaped like a cross, the Saint B also features an OLED display covered by a semi-transparent piece of plastic. Charging and login are done via USB and the overall size is 92x64x11mm. Star of David coming soon?
