Get well soon Yves!

Yves Saint Laurent

It was reported a few days ago that fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent is at the American Hospital in Paris suffering from respiratory difficulty among other health issues, where his prognosis doesn’t appear good. Laurent, who started out working for Dior, left the fashion world in 2002 due to disillusionment with the industry and quite possibly health reasons. Laurent turns 71 in just a few weeks, so we wish him a big get well soon and early birthday wishes.

Halloween is coming and what better way to spend it than pretending you’re a balding 10 year old with passive aggressive friends who don’t really care for you all that much? I can’t think of anything better. When I first saw this shirt, I thought to myself, why have I never seen a Charlie Brown t-shirt before? It just seems so right. But now that’s taken care of, I can guarantee you, buy this shirt, play a little baseball, hang out in the pumpkin patch and all your troubles will melt away.

Hand bags made from hardback novels

Purses made from hardback novels

Rebound Designs make some amazing crafty fashion for nerds and those they love. For Rebound’s amazing series of crafty purses, they take hardback editions of some of the greatest works in literary history and bring them back to life as elegant purses. Tea party fashion is definitely in and it’s only a matter of time before the celebrities swoop in and start ruining all the fun. Featuring selected purses from titles such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Crime and Punishement, The Great Gatsby, Little Women and over 95 more, I couldn’t think of any greater gift for the book lover in your life (who would carry a purse).

Backpack concept for basketball players

Basketball backpack

All you street basketball players listen up, the ever-inspiring Yanko Design weblog have discovered a beautifully designed backpack which will make your urban pick-up games a little bit easier to get to. Not only does the bag feature well-crafted swooping lines and what appears to be a hardshell backing with luggage-style handle, but the bag makes the basketball a part of it, with an ingenious recessed pocket which holds the basketball firm to your back while not in use. This is unfortunately just a prototype, but this is a concept I absolutely expect to see in production extremely soon.

31 different ways to tie your shoes reviewed

Shoelaces

Apparently there are more than 2 trillion methods for tying your shoes. Thankfully Ian over at Ian’s Shoelace Site hasn’t tried all of them yet, but he’s working on it. In order to make things a little simpler, Ian is trying and reviewing 31 different ways for you to tie those Nikes of yours, starting with everyone’s favorite, the Criss-Cross lacing! I actually remember when I was younger, some of these lacing variations were actually all the rage among middle-schoolers, like the Over-Under lacing and the Straight-Lacing. For those fashionistas out there who’ve already blown through all 31 variations, don’t worry, Ian is working on getting reviews down for many more, so, keep your trendy Adidas warm.
