It was reported a few days ago that fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent is at the American Hospital in Paris suffering from respiratory difficulty among other health issues, where his prognosis doesn’t appear good. Laurent, who started out working for Dior, left the fashion world in 2002 due to disillusionment with the industry and quite possibly health reasons. Laurent turns 71 in just a few weeks, so we wish him a big get well soon and early birthday wishes.

All you street basketball players listen up, the ever-inspiring Yanko Design weblog have discovered a beautifully designed backpack which will make your urban pick-up games a little bit easier to get to. Not only does the bag feature well-crafted swooping lines and what appears to be a hardshell backing with luggage-style handle, but the bag makes the basketball a part of it, with an ingenious recessed pocket which holds the basketball firm to your back while not in use. This is unfortunately just a prototype, but this is a concept I absolutely expect to see in production extremely soon.

Apparently there are more than 2 trillion methods for tying your shoes. Thankfully Ian over at Ian’s Shoelace Site hasn’t tried all of them yet, but he’s working on it. In order to make things a little simpler, Ian is trying and reviewing 31 different ways for you to tie those Nikes of yours, starting with everyone’s favorite, the Criss-Cross lacing! I actually remember when I was younger, some of these lacing variations were actually all the rage among middle-schoolers, like the Over-Under lacing and the Straight-Lacing.
