Regret something you’ve done? Get over it

Of course you regret something, we all do. One of the hardest things in life is trying to get over that deep, dark feeling of regret many of us carry inside. Thanks to some thoughtful artists, developers and social thinkers, it’s even easier now to admit your sins and possibly find a little closure, anonymously.

With Get Over It, you can simply enter your deepest regrets anonymously, sharing them with a mostly sympathetic public, allowing you to reach at least a small amount of closure. Limited to 1000 characters or less, of course.

Some blocking Firefox in retaliation for adblock, here’s why

Seems quite some people are still upset about Firefox users’ habit of blocking web advertising! Oh noes! A growing number of bloggers appear to be blocking users of the popular Firefox browser from accessing their content, claiming it’s theft to read a blog while blocking advertising. Though as a publisher I understand the hate, as a developer and heavy internet user, I’m torn. We had a ton of feedback to us here at BoN about our previous layout, with 4 ad display units per page, which opened our eyes, causing us to change, leaving one med-block ad unit above the fold (kinda). This we felt was a happy medium, where users wouldn’t have their experience diluted and we as publishers wouldn’t have our revenue diluted (too much). We can live with that, all we ask is that our readers live with it too.

Quote from Whyfirefoxisblocked.com:

The Mozilla Foundation and its Commercial arm, the Mozilla Corporation, has allowed and endorsed Ad Block Plus, a plug-in that blocks advertisement on web sites and also prevents site owners from blocking people using it. Software that blocks all advertisement is an infringement of the rights of web site owners and developers. Numerous web sites exist in order to provide quality content in exchange for displaying ads. Accessing the content while blocking the ads, therefore would be no less than stealing. Millions of hard working people are being robbed of their time and effort by this type of software. Many site owners therefore install scripts that prevent people using ad blocking software from accessing their site. That is their right as the site owner to insist that the use of their resources accompanies the presence of the ads.

Trouble determaning your presidential candidate?

If you’re like most people in America, you’re either not interested in any of the candidates seeking nomination for president, or you’re unable to actually determine the difference between any of them. That’s where Glassbooth comes in! Using some of web 2.0’s buzzword technologies, Glassbooth walks you through a quick and simple quiz, where you’ll also determine your key points of interest in this year’s campaign. Doing the quiz myself and having a few friends do it, we were all pretty surprised at the accuracy of the results, accurately recommending to us the candidates we were already supporting.

The sounds of Voyager’s Golden Record

Voyager

Launched in 1977, the Voyager spacecraft contains a gold-plated phonograph record, which contains sounds and images selected to protray the diversity of life on Earth. Hoping that it finds it’s way into the hands of intelligent extraterrestrial life forms, the Voyager spacecraft will take about 40,000 years to come near another star, if it survives that long of course. The contents of the Golden Record are well documented throughout history, but now, thanks to the internet, you can listen to the audio contained on the record directly through your browser. The more I listen, the more I imagine a late-night 70s sci-fi film, tracking humanities history through it’s low-quality sound effects and recording techniques.

Everyone with a digital camera has had photos that just had to be deleted. Blurred, boring, out of frame, blinking strangers, the list of reasons is endless. Think before you post

Think

Creep-out city. A recent-ish public service campaign in the US is targeting wired kids, encouraging them to think before they post personal details about themselves on their MySpace, Livejournal or personal blogs. Or in our case, when they aren’t posting (har har har)! The creepy child molester ticket checker asking about her panties? Icing on the cake.

David Choe paints the Facebook offices

Face in the stairwell

Artist, muralist, wandering vagabond and admitted petty-thief David Choe was recently contracted out to decorate the Facebook offices with his signature brand of ADD-inspired street art and luckily a friend tagged along to document the process. Though I can’t say Choe’s style of art would inspire one trying to work in an office environment, I guess it does give Facebook the chance at a little .com-style eccentricity.

Few photos and link to more after the jump..
