Put your aluminum foil caps on and get yourselves ready, because the battlefield is changing. According to ex-military writers, conspiracy theorists and lots of internet publishers around the world, the upcoming oil wars will be fought using electromagnetic waves. Discovered by Nikola Tesla (what he called “radiant energy”, scalar waves have been tested as weapons since the cold war, when the Russians reportedly suffered a giant scalar EM incident in the Urals, which devastated the area. Now though, according to some ‘experts’, military-grade scalar EM weaponry are in use, creating a whole slew of scary implications and potential new scary ways to kick start the rapidly approaching next cold war.

Blade Runner is one of the most influential films of all time, especially to sci-fi nerds such as myself. Philip K. Dick was a mad genius was both misunderstood and under-valued during his lifetime of writing, a mistake which now appears to be openly recognized, as Hollywood were scrambling for awhile to dump a load of money into glossy, overly-plastic and poorly executed films based on Dick properties. Most failing miserably at trying to achieve the greatness of Blade Runner. This amazing documentary contains interviews with everyone from Philip K. Dick to Daryl Hannah, discussing their experiences as writers and actors in getting Dick’s “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” into theaters as “Blade Runner”.

Grab some popcorn, sit back and enjoy after the jump..

I soooo want to believe, but I just can’t. Pravda, which is not one of the most respectable of news agencies, is reporting an amazing tale of two fisherman in the Rostov region of Russia who caught a “fish” with a startling resemblance to an alien. The “fish”, which actually looks like a giant jello mold, was producing rather strange squeaky sounds before it died, at which point the fisherman decided to film it with an even creepier soundtrack behind it, of what appears to be a song about a howling, dying animal recorded on a soviet-era boombox. Not scared of the fact they caught a “fish” which resembled an alien-shark, the men proceeded to cook and eat it, claiming it was the most delicious fish they ever ate.

Internet comments are reporting that the fish is in fact a ‘skate’, a sister species of rays and sharks.

Yes! I love a Star Trek nerd with commitment. And it takes a hell of a lot of commitment to turn your studio apartment into a living replica of the interior of a starship. Completely functional, the gentleman’s home, right outside of London, has been completely handcrafted with everyday parts from the local Home Depot. The design features working LED lighting systems, is air conditioned and even has a replica transporter control system which triggers sound systems and lights via fader input. The downside other than retina damage was bankruptcy, which the owner recently emerged from.

By analyzing every bit of information they could possibly find, from the comments by Obi-Wan Kenobi, to behind the scenes interviews with the cast and crew, our delightfully nerdy investigators take a deeper look into one of the many things we’ve always wanted to know about, but were too shy to ask.

With all the analysis that Lost goes through every second of the day, it’s always a pleasure to see some real in-depth discussions into pop-culture icons.
Over at Flickr (where I’ve wasted my whole morning trying to retrieve a password from an old account thanks to their pile of crap system which has been integrated into Yahoo’s pile of crap system) I just noticed a brilliant photo of someone’s Star Trek memorabilia score. In the 80s, Flickr user “The Rocketeer” found a collection of business cards for some of the characters of the original Star Trek. From Captain Kirk to Cyrano Jones, there are nifty little quotes and everything attributed to each character. Would be a perfect gift for the Star Trek nerd in your family, if only they were still available.
