Hitting up the 405 in LA, an Etnies pro decided to show his support for Go Skateboarding Day by blocking up traffic and kicking along a stretch of the notoriously overcrowded highway. He’s done us proud.
Yeah who knew!? We’d like to wish old-schoolers, mid-schoolers and new schoolers alike a happy Go Skateboarding Day, where Today, June 21st, 2008, skaters old and young are encouraged to go out and skate. Whether it be street or vert, or merely online with S.K.A.T.E, we hope all of you are having a great day on your boards.

Thrasher, the highly influential skateboarding magazine started in 1981, is offering it’s first 12 issues free to download in digital form. The issues date from January to December 1981 and were given away for free to celebrate the magazine’s 25th anniversary. When I was a kid, Natas Kaupas was one of the kings of street skating and absolutely one of my skating heroes. In fact, he was one of the first skaters to take to the street, mixing freestyle moves with vert skating tricks, riding the concrete as if riding waves and pulling off amazing moves on ordinary street objects while the skating world were too busy worrying about how much air they could get off a half-pipe. Recently, a short documentary was made on the life of Natas Kaupus (in a series on street skating), which, naturally has made it’s way to YouTube (but probably not for long).

I’m not sure which skate video this is from (I’m sure someone can tell us?) but man it looks awesome, with skaters floating over the air on what could be some sort of futuristic skating-system allowing riders to hover above the ground. Naturally someone has just treated the video to remove the physical boards underneath the skaters, but, come on, imagine along with us here, most of you are at the office and have nothing better to do anyways. Hover shoes maybe, hover boards?
