Star Wars according to a 3 year old

Cute alert!! As with any proud nerd father, there comes a time when they must introduce their child to the wonders of Star Wars. Only this time, the father filmed parts of his daughters monologue explaining one of the most famous sci-fi films of all time. Quickly becoming a YouTube hit, the little one is now receiving movie and television offers, which rightly are being turned down.

The proud father had to say:

Here is my daughter, age 3, explaining the plot of Star Wars Episode IV.

She explained the whole movie to me in much greater detail but unfortunately I didn’t have the camera going. When I finally caught her talking about the movie again she delivered this truncated, but still funny, version.

A little more about the video: She wasn’t coached to say anything, nor was she forced to make the video. She rarely stops talking. Those of you with children understand this: sometimes it’s harder to turn the faucet off than to turn the faucet on.

The video was edited to make it shorter, more cohesive and hopefully funnier. I did move some of the lines around so it would make more sense.

Star Wars trumpet solo + beauty pageant =

Absolute hilarity. I know it’s an oldie, but I had to finally post more Star Wars goods, because, what are nerds without Star Wars after all? From the 80s, this is apparently a statewide beauty pageant from Kansas, where Miss Douglas County, Stacy Hedger, decides she wants to play a stirring trumpet solo for a medley of Star Wars, complete with choreographed laser shots and deflection rolls.

Analyzing the injuries of Darth Vader

Vader's arm

Not content to witness Darth Vader’s nervous breakdown, some very technical and curious fans have dedicated themselves to analysing the cause and extent of injuries suffered by our Lord Vader during the Star Wars films. By analyzing every bit of information they could possibly find, from the comments by Obi-Wan Kenobi, to behind the scenes interviews with the cast and crew, our delightfully nerdy investigators take a deeper look into one of the many things we’ve always wanted to know about, but were too shy to ask.

Star Wars pet costumes annoy your dog but look so cool

Star Wars pet costumes

Star Wars fans have a special bond with their pets. Dogs understand the need for galactic conquest, laser-sword fights and special god-like powers that enables you to feed your pets with one finger while sitting on the couch. Dogs also understand Halloween (really, we swear) and thus really really want to be dressed up like Yoda, Princess Leia or Darth Vader. BuyCostumes.com let’s your dog’s (and every pet-loving Star Wars fan on Earth) dream come true, by offering three of the most disturbing yet cutest damned pet costumes we’ve ever seen. What I want this Halloween is to see a Darth Vader puppy, being followed around by storm trooper puppies. Come on, someone can make this happen, I know it (without harming your pets in anyway of course).

A study of Dune and it’s influence on Star Wars

Dune

The classic science fiction series Dune is one of the major bodies of work in the genre, having influenced many major movie and television films and countless science fiction novels in the time since it’s publishing in the mid-60s. One of the films to be heavily influenced by Dune was Star Wars, an influence that George Lucas is happy to admit to. Surprisingly, there were many homages to Dune in the early Star Wars scripts, though most of the Dune-like scenes were cut, there are still quite a few references in the final works which can easily be identified as clearly being influenced by Herbert’s magnificent work. Thanks to the mega-nerds at Star Wars Origins, there is an extremely informative piece on the history and influences behind Frank Herbert’s Dune and a detailed list of Dune references within the original Star Wars.

Darth Vader having a nervous breakdown - Voiced by James Earl Jones

Darth Vader has a nervous breakdown, courtesy of Akjak

Quite possibly the most amazing thing I’ve seen all week, the brilliant minds of Akjak have mashed up scenes of Darth Vader from the original Star Wars and the true voice of James Earl Jones, creating a frantic and incredibly funny 3 episode comedy/drama featuring Darth Vader in a plotline that certainly wouldn’t have made it passed George Lucas. A lonely and depraved Vader, torn by good & evil along with an incestuous love affair, is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, all this while trying to hunt down and smash the rebellion. Pure genius.

Watch all 3 episodes combined into one video after the jump…
