Barbie’s new dog really poops!

Tanner and Barber

Wow, I can’t believe I snoozed through the press releases that hit when this was released! Barbie, by Mattel, has a wonderful new dog pet named Tanner! Described as “soft and fuzzy with mouth, ears, head and tail that really move”, Tanner also comes with a few new tricks up his sleeve. Not only does he come with a cute little doggy bowl including plastic doggy food, Tanner can also poop the food out which can then be scooped up by Barbie using her handy pooper scooper utensil! The ‘poop’ is comparable in size to a brown Tic-Tac and are reportedly very easy to lose, but fun to count with your kids as Tanner does it’s business throughout the day.

Not safe for Kindergarten and some offices photo after the jump..

Burning Elmo gives me nightmares for rest of my life

Thanks to the rise in popularity of video sharing sites such as YouTube, more and more completely strange and useless videos are appearing on a daily basis. Thankfully so, because then we wouldn’t have anything else to post about, ya know? This is a particularly bone-chilling video created by a few people who apparently are a little upset over Elmo TMX’s overshadowing the PS3 and Wii launch. Switching on a talking Elmo TMX, they proceed to light him on fire as he creepily laughs while proclaiming “that tickles”, at which point the flaming Elmo jumps onto the cameraman and proceeds devouring the pitiful human piece by piece. Ok, I might have made some of that up.

The best present for kids this year

Gloomy Bear plush arms

Anyone buying presents for kids knows it’s a giant pain in the ass, especially when what they want is an Elmo or ridiculously impossible to find Nintendo Wii. But fear not, one of the coolest presents this year is readily available and is much cooler than those electronic brain drainers anyways. What I’m talking about is the Gloomy Bear Plush Arm pillow set available over at myplasticheart. 2 GIANT plush arm pillows, shaped like everyone’s favorite homicidal (hopefully!) bear, the Gloomy Bear! The pillows slip over your arms, allowing kids (or you) to annoy the hell out of people, pets and grandparents alike. After your killing spree is over, you just slide them off and lay down for a relaxing nap.

Lost figurines to debut at Toys R’ Us Times Square event with McFarlane

Lost figures by McFarlane

New York Lost fans are probably the second luckiest behind the Hawaiians who get to randomly walk onto Lost sets scattered around the island. Why New York? Well, on November 6th at the flagship Toys R’ Us Times Square store, Todd McFarlane himself AND an unannounced actor from the show (Charlie? Jack? Boone?) will be on-hand to officially launch the McFarlane-line of Lost Season 1 action figures and provide autographs to those who are able to actually purchase a figure. The ticketing process will be announced soon, but if you plan on being in the NYC area that day AND love Lost, you owe it to all of the Lost fans around the world to get a ticket, fight the crowd and get your figure autographed. Then send it to us.

Throw a LEGO-themed kid’s party that adults can also enjoy

Lego salt and pepper shakers

LEGO is an amazing toy and company. Other than being one of the premier toy makers in the world, LEGO is also positioning themselves not only for kids, but for their hip parents, by creating some superbly designed items. For instance, the set of LEGO party pieces currently up in the LEGO online store, featuring everyday items like LEGO branded ice-cube trays, to bottle openers, to coasters, and yes, some of the most amazing salt and pepper shakers I’ve EVER seen. This being every crafty parent’s dream come true, I say any parent with an ounce of soul should immediately throw their kids a LEGO-themed party, inviting all their child’s friends (and their parents) to eat, drink and be LEGO. For those in the US, sorry, you’re going to have to keep your eyes glued to eBay for now, but those in the EU can go ahead and start their party planning!

Musical wind-up toys by Maywa Denki

Wind up toys

I’ve always loved wind-up toys and being the spaceage bachelor that I am (ok, not really), I’ve always wanted to start a small collection of all the strange wind-up toys I’ve come across. From politician’s heads, to food, to space aliens and cartoons, the variety is crazy. Now I’ve found the Knockman Family, from designer Maywa Denki. Each character makes their own absurd movements, making some sort of ‘musical’ noise while capturing dada-esque design perfectly. Only a matter of time before some electronica artist in Japan (or Canada) is using this group to create live noise.

The amazing Shocking Battle Tanks game

Shocking Tanks

If fake, eh, if real, whoa, someone must have quite a good lawyer and have hopefully formed a pretty solid limited liability company structure around their business. The Shocking Battle Tanks game is exactly what it says, a set of 2 remote controlled toy tanks that fire upon each other and upon getting hit, sends a “painful” electronic shock to the person controlling the tank. Now we’re talking. The stated goal of the game is to knock the other tank out of commission and make the other player suffer as much as possible. My mouth, it is agape.
